I’m a recent graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. I have had work experiences in Marketing and Public Relations, Event Coordination, Translational Research, Data-Based Research, Quality Assurance, and Business Development. I love dancing, singing (shrieking, really) in my car, swimming, travelling, and hanging out with my friends. In the future, I would love to be able to stay in the biotechnology industry on the business side and utilize my knowledge and skills from my previous experiences to help develop a company portfolio that ultimately allows for better healthcare opportunities for an individual.
I am currently the Business Development Intern in the Integration and Alliance Management team working on preparing Roche Sequencing Solutions for their upcoming corporate internal audit. In my position, I have to contact and acquire documentation from a variety of functions, including Legal, IT, HR, Finance, and Business Development and from all of our most recent acquisitions. Additionally, I am working on setting up a webpage that will summarize Integration best practices, to be used for all future Roche Sequencing acquisitions. This webpage will serve as a tool for all stakeholders during an integration of a new partnership in order to drive efficiency.
Currently I am working at Roche Sequencing Solutions in Pleasanton, California. The people here at Roche are extremely intelligent and some of the nicest and most supportive people I’ve ever met. Additionally, the employees at Roche really value a collaborative environment where everyone is extremely open to new ideas from anyone.
My internship has been a mixture of gaining Business Development experience and networking and focusing on career growth. The internship program and the employees have been very supportive to help me in my career growth. Additionally, the work hard-play hard atmosphere of the internship has allowed me to do valuable work while making amazing friends here.
The best part of my experience so far has to be the people I work with. Everyone here is extremely intelligent and friendly that I have no qualms about asking for help at any time. Additionally, the interns I work with are phenomenal, as they really exemplify the Roche values every day in their work. I feel as though every day I am here, I learn more and more skills from all of my fellow colleagues and managers that I will use in every aspect of my life.
I would tell future students to apply for what they are passionate about. Roche has such an enriching culture that you will get so much more than just job experience here. You will have the opportunity to make connections with lifelong mentors and colleagues that are all extremely helpful and really value helping you grow your career.
